Wide boards continue to win, but the width has settled around 190 mm rather than climbing. Beyond that, boards start to cup noticeably in Australian conditions unless the subfloor is very well controlled.
Matt and brushed finishes have almost entirely displaced gloss. They hide traffic better and they photograph honestly, which matters when clients are choosing from images.
Cork is the genuine change. It used to be specified for sound; now it is chosen for how it feels underfoot in bedrooms and studies, and the colour range has caught up with timber.
